1982, the duo consisting of producer Statik Selektah and emcee Termanology, recently dropped a brand new track, titled “82-92”, off their next album, featuring rising newcomer Mac Miller.
In the clip, Termanology and Mac trade verses back in forth on some spitting sh**. The Jon Wolf-directed clip features footage of the two chilling in the studio, rhyming on stage at a show, and in the streets.
1982’s self-titled debut is already in stores. At press time, their next project did not have a release date.
I don’t know what show they shot this video at (probably some SXSW ish), but I’m mad I wasn’t there. Earlier today, Jean Grae released the official video for her Cookies or Comas track “R.I.P.” featuring Talib Kweli and Styles P with Ski Beatz on the production. Video directed by The ICU. Cookies or Comas is coming soon.

It’s been about 2 years since eLZhi announced he had a new mixtape on the way, Elmatic. As the title would suggest, the project is eLZhi’s take on Nas‘ classic debut LP, Illmatic. That album’s clearly untouchable, but if there’s one artist I’d like to hear re-interpret it, it’s EL. Today, we get word that the tape is still on the way, and should be coming soon. Listen to the tape’s bonus track “Verbal Intercourse 2,” which has eLZhi going in over 14KT‘s “Verbal Intercourse 06″ beat. “eLZhi warns and shares aspiring artist about the shady music business and touches on his departure from SLUM VILLAGE‘s Label and his former rap partner.” Interpret that as you will.
From Wall Street to the forefront of the pop art movement, Jeff Koons has endured a great deal of controversy over his career. From his perception of art based on his creations to his proclamation of all things balloon animals as his own, Hunter Jonakin has his own insight with Jeff Koons Must Die!!! The Video Game. Locked in a museum, you’re given the ability to wreak havoc on Koons’s work as well as himself, which is in itself a controversial bit of commentary.
Here’s the first offering off the upcoming Bronson x Statik Selektah collaborative album.
Thousands of family, friends, and fans gathered to say goodbye to pay their respects to the late Nate Dogg in Long Beach, Calif. on Saturday (March 26), as the legendary singer was laid to rest in his hometown.
Among those in attendance was Nate’s west coast rap peers, such as Dr. Dre, The Game, DJ Quik, Mack 10, WC, DJ Pooh, Battlecat, and of course, Snoop Dogg, who — just a day before — inked Nate’s likeness onto his arm permanently.
Inside the Long Beach Cruise Terminal, lights spotlighted a wooden coffin adorned with red and white flowers, while two jumbo screens on opposite sides of his it flashed six different photos of Nate Dogg (real name: Nathaniel Hale) — all the way from his childhood boy to his days at the top of the music industry.
MTV cameras were on hand to document people as they entered. Inside, Snoop and friends spoke a few words to send their late friend off.
“He was a loving, caring individual,” an emotional Snoop said of his friend. “I’m so honored, so happy that you gave me the opportunity, God, to know Nate Dogg. I want to stand here and cry, but I have to have the strength for you Nate Dogg. It’s 213, DPG for life.”
“It hurts me so much to see this,” Warren G added while looking down at the casket. “We been through a whole lot and that was my dog. He stayed down with me from the bottom to the top. I didn’t ever think I would have to sit at a funeral for one of my dogs. All I can say is that was my friend, me him and Snoop was 213 from the balls to the walls. The music industry lost an incredible artist.”
Nate Dogg passed away earlier this month from complications of multiple strokes he suffered in the past several years. May he rest in peace.
Snoop has established a memorial trust in Nate Dogg’s honor, with proceeds benefiting his six children and family. For more info, visit SnoopDogg.com.
