The Weeknd drops another eerie r&b bomb on us out of the blue, appropriately titled “Love In The Sky.” The newest release from his forthcoming LP Kiss Land finds Abel in “Dirty Diana” mode vocals-wise, with appropriately raunchy guitars that sound like The XX is playing in the next studio over and what sounds like Phil Collins and the Miami Vice Orchestra on the drum programming. Listen and let us know what you think of it…
At the age of 15, Futura was already obsessed with his visual identity. Motivated by the dream of becoming a famous Artist, he created Futura 2000, based on a reference out of a Kubrick film.
Futura’s education began on Brodway’s line 1 of the New York City subway, working his way up as one of urban art’s most innovative Artists.
He held art exhibits in the US and Europe for more than a decade before making commercial collaborations in the 90s that brought graffiti to the masses and inspired new generations of urban Artists. Futura’s work is considered to be extremely influential, uniting contemporary pop art with street graffiti. Watch above:

After bringing his skate film LENZ to the big screen back in 2009, director Shinpei Ueno knew there were many more skaters and settings he wanted to feature, but didn’t have the time or means. Now four years later, the cinematographer is set to premiere LENZ II with footage from Japan, New York and France, along with over 180 riders including Shota Kikuchi, Hiroki Muraoka, and Issey Yumiba, in addition to international notables such as Leo Valls. The goal of this project was not to necessarily compete with American skaters and their gnarly talents, but rather to bring innovation to the visuals of skate cinematography. LENZ II will premiere this October with screenings in Osaka, Tokyo, and Sendai.
Everybody’s favorite rapademic Talib Kweli sits down with everybody’s favorite Hip-Hop lawyer-turned-internet-radio-personality Combat Jack for a go-deep interview in the trademark CJ style. In this first installment of the conversation with Kweli, we get an idea of how growing up in a house full of books shaped his academic approach to rap, his apprenticeship in the parks and clubs of early 1990s New York, right up to his string of appearances at the legendary music incubator Lyricist’s Lounge. There’s also some gems about ghostwriting for kids on his block and the best motivational factors for going hard in your quest to become an Artists. Actually to hear Kweli tell it the best motivator is a pregnant girlfriend with no visible means of support, so maybe not necessarily a self-help tip you want to replicate in your own life. What’s the proving ground for an amateur skateboarder these days? In an era of YouTube phenoms and hungry One-In-A-Millionaires, a young skateboarder has to be something special to place themselves on a company’s professional tenure track. Skateboarding has seen the rise in ATV (All Terrain Vehicles)’s over the past few years, that is, a selection of young skaters taking heavy cues from everyone from John Cardiel to Grant Taylor, those who are capable of skating any terrain in front of them. Transworld Skateboarding took a small group of ams: Dee Ostrander, John Fitzgerald, Riley Hawk, Robbie Brockel, Marius Syvanen, and Willis Kimbel, up to the great Northwest to skate the diverse skate-scape of Portland, OR. Destruction ensues as this group of special young guns lets loose on the city, shredding everything from Burnside’s treacherous tranny to crusty wallrides in the neglected corners of Stumptown. No spot feels quite safe after watching this essential video piece, viewable above.

Few things can be as terrifying as careening uncontrollably through space with no contact to planet Earth. Giving viewers a first-hand experience in a space mission gone wrong is the upcoming film Gravity. Written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the film stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as a young astronaut and shuttle commander, respectively. While completing a routine spacewalk, their shuttle is struck by space debris and almost completely destroyed, thus leaving them stranded as the only survivors and further hampered by a limited supply of oxygen and no contact with mission control back on Earth. Optimized for 3D and IMAX 3D thanks to extensive post-production effects work, Gravity is set to open this year’s Venice International Film Festival in August before hitting theaters on October 4.
