Medicom Toy presents a preliminary look at its forthcoming series of Bearbricks to close out 2013. In prototypical Bearbrick fashion, Series 27 includes a myriad of variations on the 70 mm miniature bear, this time marked by the appearance of RoboCop and D*Face editions, as well as nods to popular manga series Tiger Mask and Hajime Isayama’s Attack On Titan. The full series of 24 Bearbricks, which includes a bevy of yet-to-be-revealed designs, is due out this December.
Bursting straight out of the burgeoning graffiti scene down under, Sydney, Australia’s finest Artists have come out to create a massive mural project. Phibs and a group of Artists were commissioned by the city to transform an abandoned warehouse in Stanmore into an art hub. Together with Numskull and Beastman, the building was creatively bombed with a slew of striking animations and tags. Enjoy the video above, shot and cut by rising videographer bpxt$ and featuring music from bryZone_ybp.

Eddie Huang and VICE follow up stints in both Detroit and Mongolia with their latest stop for the second season of Fresh Off The Boat: Moscow. Kicking off with a stop at a local arcade to play some Soviet-era video game classics, part one of the Russian capital’s episode sees Huang linking up with one of the city’s few black Muscovites, an American transplant teaching English, and a group of the country’s millennials for an inside look at their evolving ideologies, “communist dogs” and, of course, some Russian vodka. In addition to the Air Foamposite One PRM “Safari,” Nike has also cooked up this Air Force 1 “Safari.” Like the Foamposite version, this Air Force 1 features an upper dominated by the iconic Safari print. Here, the print is paired with grey leather panels, a black Swoosh and heel tab, and orange branding. The Safari print has been given a silver finish for that extra stand out effect which pairs nicely with the pop of orange used on the outsole.
Before the rise of the CD and the dawn of mp3s, cassettes was where it was at, and blank tapes were the ’80s analogue version of P2P, as people who were too cheap to buy albums used blank tapes to copy from friends. But another zeitgeist was the invention of the homemade mixtape, a combination of singles, half albums, and excerpts from radio shows. In order to make it quick and easy to distinguish mixtapes from each other, people often created colorful spines on their blank tapes. Steve Vistaunet collected a few of his own favorites to either bring back memories for those who lived through the era, or to show you younger folk how obscure the ’80s were.
East Coast representative Black Dave continues his 2013 onslaught by releasing the trippy vintage visuals for his “Rap N’ Skate” single. B.D. makes his two main interests pretty clear in the song, where he pairs bars about skating and purpose against an admittedly catchy hook. Filmed entirely on VHS, the video itself pays homage to old skateboarding footage, and features the artist cruising around crowd favorite Coleman Skate Park in the Lower East Side.
It really isn’t easy being green. This fact will unfortunately, not get any more poignant for Kermit The Frog than when The Muppets return to the big screen next year in a sequel titled Muppets Most Wanted. As the title implies, there are plenty of caper-solving hijinks in store for The Muppets who, while on tour in Europe, are embroiled in a bad case of mistaken identity when Kermit is replaced by a Russian criminal fugitive lookalike.
While the idea of yet another Muppets movie might appear to be the latest in Hollywood’s idea-deprived grab for reboot material, it’s worth mentioning that The Muppets released back in 2011 was surprisingly well received both at the box office and by critics. In fact, it managed to out-gross all of the previous films in the series with the exception of The Muppet Movie (1979), a considerable success for any cultural icon franchise trying to find new audiences. Directed by returning director James Bobin, the Disney movie’s human cast includes Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey. Look for it in theaters on March 21, 2014.
Delivering new models one after another for the holiday season, the Jordan Brand recreates its iconic Air Jordan 1 Mid model with a very festive colorway that mixes gym red, black and dark sea. With tumbled red leather panels serving as a base, this drop introduces a very winterized green felt throughout to offer a unique contrast to the rest of the sneaker. Additional details include a black Swoosh outlined in red, two-toned laces, a nylon tongue as well as a rubber cupsole and outsole.
