Biography
Stay High 149, aka “Voice of the Ghetto”, is a true legend who helped pioneer modern graffiti as we know it when he started writing in 1969 at the age of 18. Born and raised in the Bronx, Stay High was inspired to write graffiti as a means to express himself, and simply for the thrill of getting up. As a master of numerous handstyles and techniques Stay High would inspire and influence many who came after him. While most kids writing today probably never think about why they sign their tags with adornments such as halos and stars, other graffiti legends such as Tracy 168 and Futura know why, and they acknowledge Stay High 149 as an innovator who helped to influence many in their graffiti careers.
