Biography

TAKI 183 was the tag of a young man named Demetrius from Washington Heights. TAKI was his nickname and 183 was the street number where he lived. He was employed as a messenger and spent much of his time on New York City, sparking curiosity from all New Yorkers. He was one of the 1st Writers to take his name All-City hitting everything in site. TAKI 183 was one of the very 1st writers recognized by the New York City public and media. In 1971, The New York Times published an article on the mysterious TAKI 183 entitled “Taki 183 Spawns Pen Pals.” Thank you TAKI 183, the truest of legends.
