Westside Gunn and Conway, aka Hall N Nash, pay tribute to wrestling legend Mr. Fuji who passed away earlier this week. The track is produced by Daringer.
Even outside of her Internet output, lead vocal force Syd has proven to be remarkably productive. Today she does it again with the bubbly new joint “Amazing.” Dornik, an exceptional r&b artist haling from London, sits at the helm. The duo compliment one another perfectly; Syd’s floaty vox gliding over a delicate combo of rhodes flutters and slow burn drum patters.
Look at the lineup on this bad boy. 80’s band Living Coulour offers up a new rap heavy take on their remake of Biggie’s “Who Shot Ya” featuring Prodigal Sunn, Black Thought, Chuck D, Pharoahe Monch and Kyle Mansa. If you’ve ever heard the original version of the cover, you know that sonically, it differs a great deal from the Biggie original. This new remix, helmed by producer Andre Betts, moves even further away from the source material with a strong message about police brutality and the value of Black life in America. This will appear on the band’s upcoming mixtape, Mixtape, due out September 9th.
With his new album The Divine Feminine due on September 16th, Mac Miller liberates “We” featuring Cee-Lo Green. Listen above, and pre-order the LP now.
Adult Swim‘s summer singles campaign has been raging for months now. Today, Earl Sweatshirt and Knxwledge link up on “Balance”, which is officially released as the campaign’s thirteenth single. On the track Earl and Knxw are on their A game with a short and sweet showing, providing infinite vibes on an uber smooth sonic suite that finds Earl unpacking his hallmark verbal density, waxing introspective over his return to weed’s wildly wonderful world and the racial politics that consume him therein.
De La Soul share “Greyhounds”, a collaboration with Usher from the new album and the Anonymous Nobody, due out August 26th. The song follows the stories of two protagonists, a small town woman caught up in the fast life of the big city and a young man who’s trying to get his money up by any means necessary, both of whom are using the iconic bus line as their only means of transportation. Listen above, and pre-order the new LP now.
Many of the reports surrounding Jhene Aiko‘s current situation haven’t exactly been music related. Her well publicized split from Dot Da Genius after 11 months of marriage has dominated the internets of late. It’s good to see Aiko back to music, where she’s proven to be more than proficient in expressing the minutia of rocky romance. Today she’s released a lovelorn loosie in “New Balance,” written and performed by Aiko herself.
